I have been planning a family vacation to the Caribbean and spent a lot of time finding out which Caribbean holiday resorts catered best for families on holiday vacation with toddlers and children.
I was torn between the big All Inclusive Resorts and Room Only more intimate properties, in the end and after hours of research I decided on the Bougainvillea Beach Resort in Barbados which is a room only resort with good facilities for children and close to local facilities so we can experience life outside the resort. They also have one and two bedroom suites, avoiding the need to share a room with children (as with so many resorts and hotels).
Here is my list of the top 10 Caribbean Holiday Vacation Resorts that best cater for families with Toddlers & Young Children:
1) Atlantis Paradise Island – Bahamas
2) Beaches Negril – Jamaica
3) Almond Morgan Bay Resort – St Lucia
4) Almond Beach Village – St Peter, Barbados
5) Beaches Resort & Spa – Turks & Caicos
6) Coconut Bay Resort – St Lucia
7) Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort – Montego Bay, Jamaica
Club Med – Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
9) Almond Smugglers Cove – St Lucia
10) Westin & Sheraton at Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort – Grand Bahama
When choosing a resort to take the family it is crucial to do your research, look at websites like Trip Advisor to see what other people thought of the holiday, find out about the food, security, safety and quality of the bedrooms.
My advice is to always book a package holiday as any non-fault injury suffered abroad can be dealt with by the tour operator as a personal injury claim, if you book the accommodation and flights yourself then you have nobody to make a compensation claim against if someone has an accident on holiday that isn’t their fault.
As well as the added protection of someone to make a personal injury claim against, there is also the benefit of having holiday reps close at hand to help with any problems or queries you may have on your holiday.

You’re very luckly to even be considering a Caribbean holiday in these cash-strapped credit crunched times – but there are some great destinations in your list. I was lucky enought to visit the Almond Smugglers Cove resort last year and had an absolutely fantastic time – so that one is my recommendation.
Hey, thanks for sharing your list! I will look through them.
Awesome! I’ve been wanting to take a family trip to the Carribean now I have a better idea what to research. I definitely want to check out Atlantis Paradise in the Bahamas so if anyone has any feedback on this resort I would love to hear.

Thanks for the great list. I will check them out!
I would like to go to the Dominican Republic!
I think you made the right choice going room-only. I always find the all-inclusive holidays so intrusive – I want to do things my way!
Nice list. Thank you very much for the great share.
Hey good list will share with some friends and if you have more then please do post it.
Nice list. I need a vacation soon!

A great list! I am sending this to my wife so she can look it over for me. She knows better than I do what we need
I visited the Atlantis site, and it sound great but right now out of my price range
This one is going on the dream board.
I have just returned from coconut bay resort in st lucia, lovely stuff, but the beach was rather disappointing
The Caribbean is my dream. I’ve never been there. What time is better for trip there? Did your children like it?
I went to Club Med and loved every moment that I spent under the glorious Caribbean rays of sunshine!!!
It really is quite expensive to visit the Caribbean nowadays (unless you really live there!) I suggest that families should try visiting Asia. Your dollars would go a long long way. There are a lot of resorts that have all-inclusive packages as well.
This is some great info on Caribbean resorts. I want to take a trip there this year and you took so much work out of the research for me. Thanks for posting these links, I will check them out and can make an informed decision on what place is best for me and my family. I will visit back here again and let you know how your recommendations went.
I like the Caribbean, I also like seeing it from a boat. Cruising is the way to travel these spots if you can. I just like having everything planned for you and being around the same people. It just makes things a bit more comfortable.
Cancun is part of Caribbean , i think is not too expensive, and there are many luxurious resorts to stay there.
Great list – can’t wait to see your photo’s. Keep on blogging! Thanks.
I would love to go to the Caribbean!
Wow the Caribbean – the closest we’ve got to the caribbean is Costa Rica (the west coast of Costa Rica is know as the Caribbean coast). So amazing – want to be back in the warm water now!!
