Here are ten great Link Building Tips that will help with your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) campaign and hopefully get your site closer to the elusive top spot in the Google Rankings.
It is worth bearing in mind that having loads of links to your website or blog is pretty useless if the site itself doesn’t have decent and original content.
1) Do Follow Blog Comments – Leave comments on Do Follow blogs (like this one), this gets you a proper link very quickly indeed, if you can find blogs that relate to the phrases you are trying to promote all the better. If you have a website about cats, then leave try and leave comments on cat related Do Follow blogs.
2) Anchor Text – when you leave a comment on a Do Follow blog the link to your website will be the “name” that you use when making your comment, so make this text (the Anchor Text) relate to your site, if you are trying to promote a website about Xbox 360 Games , make your Anchor Text something like “Xbox 360 Games”.
3) Website Directories – Make sure your site is listed on as many Website Directories as possible, there are directories about pretty much everything these days, again the more the directory relates to your site the better.
List of 100 Website Directories to Submit Your Site
4) Page Rank – Try and build links from websites with a high Google Page Rank, the higher the rank, the more “Google Juice” they will give you.
5) Link Baiting - Write a strong outspoken or contraversial post (please ensure you don’t libel anyone), if it is written well others are sure to link to it, even if it’s just to say that your opinion sucks!
6) Article Submission Websites - There are stacks of sites that you can submit your most interesting blog posts to Sphinn and Digg are my favorite, if you have a good blog post this can get you hundreds of good links.
7) Social Networking – Promote our site in the Social Networking arena, use sites like Facebook and Bebo to stir up interest and build links.
Internal Linking – Often overlooked and probably the easiest way of building links to a website, internal links are links from your own posts to another (or even the same) page on your website or blog. As a rule of thumb, every post you write should have one or two internal links.
9) Wikipedia – Write a good, informative post and add to the Wikipedia external links area on the subject you have written about. Although Wikipedia is a No Follow site there is evidence that the links have value.
10) Pay for Links – If you are desperate and can’t be bothered to follow my other Link Building Tips, pay for links, Google Adwords is a good place to start.

Good post. Those are 10 solid tips. Another I would add to the mix is possibly do reciprocal link swaps.
my recommendations for link building are: 1) blog commenting, preferably on DoFollow blogs, 2) directory submissions (i use directory maximizer), and 3) article marketing (i use article marketer)
Nioce post! Thanks for the list of do follow blogs, commenting on related blogs is really great for link building.
On #3, Directory submission, do you really think is worth it to invest in paid directories these days with google penalizing paid links?
Do follow blog comments! I hear ya!
Thanks fro the info, the internal linking tip is something i didn’t real know about. Thanks a lot!
Link exchange.
As a newbie in the internet marketing field, it came to my sudden realization that link building is so time consuming and requires a heavy dose of perseverance. Well…it seems apparent that it’s just the way things has to be done.
This is the hard fact which I have to live with.
Anyways, your valuable tips in this post provided me with a rejuvenated enthusiasm to keep me going in the right direction.
My heap of thanks to you, mate.
Wikipedia links are quite difficult to get. All new links on the site are checked for legitimacy. Most links are deleted withing a few minutes of modifying a page. Aside from the nofollow attribute Wiki links carry, I think they validate a site in Google’s eyes.
Hello
Just wanted to add to Biodun comments that google does not values paid links. Everybody is talking about paid links and are exchanging links . There fore knowing this google has change its algorithm. It does not have the same value once it had. Nice post and very informative for newbies
Good article and a cool site in general. Agree with Biodun is it worth investing in paid directories?

I agree with the Do-Follow blog thing. It’s free. However, it requires some mastery of a language and a bit of intelligence…whereas the mindless approach of some would support the contention that they don’t have two brain cells to rub together.
But the one that’s really been affecting me lately is internal linking. I hadn’t paid much attention to that…and now I am. I suspect it will help once the SERPs start taking my recent changes into account.
yep do follow blogs are the easiest way to rack up links, im actually working on a list on my site. check it out
Dofollow is grear, but the directory submission is very time consuming..i think you can find someone to submit for u..i think its like $10-$30 a domain
Thanks for the nice post. It was some great tips and i think im going to stick on these tips. on the wikipedia part, its a no follow site but i think many people will obviously have a lokk into your websites. Well, thanks for the advices. cheers!
not bat at all the tips…fanx for sharing:)keep us updated of new ones
Really nice post. Good for new comers like us to do some link building. its the first time im hearing on link building as it stands it shows a worhwhile reason to give it a try.
Good tips on everything, particularly the one about Wikipedia because that’s an often overlooked one. I use it a lot and if an article has an interesting quote or phrase in it and I’m interested to check out the actual source, I always check the links so I can personally tell you that that tip alone can do a lot because it establishes the authenticity of the article, thus the authenticity of the site that it was linked to. But I have to disagree with the Anchor Text part because on a DoFollow blog’s comments list, at a glance, it just makes the list look like a list of ads that’s trying to pass off as authentic comments.
Good List. I think you are dead on about the internal linking. This method is often overlooked but can be very valuable in getting your site indexed by Google.
Hello,
I tried for some time to get a page rank for ad-my-ad.com by writing articles, but I had no inspiration.
I found an article on a blog about how you can use amazon to read book contents, already organized by keywords and to get inspiration from that.
Genius!
The list is good and shows what it actually takes to get ahead – hard work and a little elbow grease (especially at the beginning). Great site.
you missed one thing…never spam in dofollow blogs…
use them for good…not for only your own advantage
I’m trying build backlinks for my site. It’s soooooo time consuming, but I know it’ll be worth it in the end.
This instructions are really very helpful for do follow used in blog, website.
Thank you so much for a great tips. It is very helpful. nice site.

This is an outstanding list. I was looking for good sources of info because i want to finally start some blogs for my sites. This will definitely have a link. I especially like the link to the list of directories…all “search engine submissions” are useless.
By the way, do you know of any good social bookmarking submission tools?
Yes quality vs quanity does matter especially to google, we are all at googles mercy as far as traffic goes. link exchange can be your best friend just make sure you dont link to sites google deems not a worthy website.
Very good tips. I’ve been marketing online for years now and I have seen a lot of people overlook some of these things and really suffer from it.
Good tips. I haven’t heard of the WikiPedia tip before. Link exchanges are definitely an option that will bring you results. Maybe not as fast as some of the other things but it is definitely worth it.
wikipedia?! does that mean i have to write my own content? or can i just go into any place and add my links? o_O
-Jake
Yup, nice list, it’s all about them links
Thanks for all that info. I am new at this, and the more I read, the more I feel I have to learn.
how did you fly with this material?
I have tried most of these link building methods, but I will never try paying for links. But one area that I want to learn more about is article submission. Thats the other thing i have not done.
Hi – good list but….
a/ surely if all it took to build a link was a link to myself everyone would be doing it? I’m surprised that internal links are weighted highly by Google!
b/ aren’t mutal links un-weighted as well? (That makes reciprocal linking a bit of a waste)

Great list of helpful tips. Thanks : D
Great tips, thanks for sharing.
Great post! I haven’t heard of a wikipedia tips before. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for the nice list. It is very helpful. Keep it up.
Super – thanks for the tips. A few ideas there that ive yet to tackle. Cheers
The wikipedia post idea was a new one to me. A variation on that is the new About.Us wiki.
They solicited me recently as I was building links for my clients. SEOs with brick and mortar clients would do well to look into them.
My own blog is an experiment in a specialized market segment – property manager NIGHTMARE. Not much traffic but is ranking well due to the YouTube video I created.
Thanks a lot, good article.
Hi!
Good post.
That’s a really nice post of yours. Got lot of knowledge from it & yes in the end of everything quality does matter.
Regarding Wikiwpedia. It is scraped and regurgitate by a lot of sites. If you can get a link on a decent page, it won’t be followed from wikipedia, but all of the scrapper sites seem to be dofollow. So it can actually be owrth about 100 links.
Thanks for your good articles !
It’s a very nice list of strong tips for Link Building.
Thank you so much for this article. I just started my own site http://sanantoniocomputergeek.com. I guess this is going to be a proof of concept.
