This is my list of the Top 20 Video Games of All Time that have appeared on Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 & Nintendo Wii
I haven’t included Halo 3 or Gears of War as I have never played them!
I have also only included one version of EA Fifa Soccer & Tiger Woods PGA Tour, rather than have loads in the top 20.

Update: 21/05/2008 – Since publishing the Top 10 Games list we have had the arrival of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 4, probably the most hyped video game of all time.
GTA 4 is worthy of a place inside the Top 10 Games of All Time list, I am not yet convinced it is number one material, certainly somewhere in the top 5 games but I am only 12% of my way through the single player game, so watch this space.
The online game multi-player modes on GTA 4 are very impressive, with games like Turf War, Cops and Crooks as well as straightforward Deathmatch – but can it compete with the online game multi-player masterpiece that is Call of Duty 4 (Modern Warfare)?
So all in all, great game, in fact outstanding game, but it is let down by the multi-player online gaming side of things and i’m not totally convinced it is all time number one game material, but we will see…

I agree with most of your list, but have to also agree with a lot of commentors that Zelda got robbed. Personally I think the zelda games over the years deserve at least one or 2 top spots all time
I don’t see how you can say a soccer game is the best video game ever.
the only thing that makes me a sad panda is that metalgear solid is not in typ 3
I love all the games mentioned above in the blog. Though I have most of these but I want to pertain the rest as soon as possible.
Tomb Raider! Well yes. I also a fan of Guitar Hero.

Talking about games is a never ending topic for the game freaks and i love this topic but I didn’t like the list of the games. According top me these games are not worth of coming into the rank of top 20 games.
I think a lot of you guys missed the point – the article was written in APRIL 23, 2008. GTA4 was released almost a week after this was published so knock it off with the, “Why didn’t you include GTA4″ crap. Having said that, I would’ve replaced Vice City with San Andreas and Gran Turismo 3 with Gran Turismo 4. And I would’ve removed the first-person shooters here because they’re best played on a PC and not on a console.
I played most of the games in this top twenty list and I feel the countdown is perfect and there are no changes required. Especially Call of Duty is the game which i feel perfect and can be enjoyed a lot.
i love tomb rider legends….i get addicted when started to play,games is something we can’t live with…my mum get really mad when she saw me start to play this game,got used to it now….
I have been playing GTA IV for a bit now and I love it. It is so fun to see what you can pull off in such a big city. Next on my list is Call of Duty 4. I am going to rent that tomorrow. I hope it is awesome to the max
i’m a HUGE fan of COD:4 I love that game.
I don’t see King’s Field III. I guess only a handful of us extreme fanatics even knew about it.
COD 4 is the bomb!! Yeah….graphically wise not the best…but the gameplay and experience is really good for grabs
My son has a PSP and PS2 and is now begging for a PS3. It’s crazy! He does love Call of Duty, tool.
Of all the 20, rainbow six and call of duty 4 are the best. I just can’t stop playing them, especially call of duty 4 on multiplayer mode.

The top is Tomb Raider, but the number 2, for me.
I think Tomb Raider 1 should be on that list, along with Super Mario, Space Invaders and Pong. All these games were groundbreaking firsts that opened up the whole gaming world.
Ditto Uptake. My son loves Call of Duty. He would play it all day if I let him. Now that school is out he is getting way too much time with Call of Duty! But, it does keep him out of my wife’s hair, so I cannot really complain too much about it.
Fifa okay but not a patch on Konami’s offering

Great list there! I am a gamer for a very long time. Gaming is my 2nd life. Game number 6 and number 10 is my hot favorite! Cannot be miss!

This is a super list of great games. But I have to agree with some people here that a soccer game might not be the top game here. For me it is GTA.
Why isn’t the game HALO on your list
GTA 4 has got to be right in the mix – its just on fire!
FIFA 07 – top game
This is a good list definitely… I’d have to say my favorite all time games have been the Gran Turismo and Grand Theft Auto series.
Gran Turismo 5 looks like it could do some damage in future lists judging by the Prologue

CoD4 no bad too
I just can’t take this list seriously without Halo or Halo 2 on there anywhere. The Halo series has almost single handedly sold millions of X-Boxes and vaulted Microsoft into the dominant position among gaming platforms!
Some of the best games are the ones where you couldnt save every 5 minutes, or had unlimited continues. The greatest games of all times were the ones that required you to beat the game with skill, not just saving and reloading everytime you got stuck!

I’ll probably go with Wii Sports just because it’s the best for playing with friends and socializing.
It’s Christmas time almost and understandably, you are all set to gift a Wii Fit. But why has it been so tough to find a Wii Fit for Sale?

I agree with the largest part of your list, only a couple of minor aspects are incorrect. I have to say that I am particularly fond of Assassin’s Creed, Wii Sports and Grand Theft Auto. Overall, I can’t say that you haven’t created an accurate top 20, good job! Lets see what will the top look like after a couple of years.

I think GTA Vice city is not the only favourite in Consoles.
GTA 4 is the Greatest ever in them.
WTF is Okami? Probably the best game of the modern era. Definately one of the most creative and beautiful.
And one of the Pro Evos should certainly be there if you’re gonna include Fifa, probably PES 3 overall.

I am really looking forward to play GTA4, but i have to say, Tony Hawks pro skater, despite the fact that it is now only popular among 11-year olds, deserves a spot in the 20 simply for the concept. Metal Gear Solid…great game..and who can deny Street Fighter a spot! haha
My personal opinion is that Twisted Metal 2 is the greatest game for PS ever created. The fact that it was left off this list is a great disservice to video games all over the world. Let’s see if any of your other readers can agree that Twisted Metal 2 was awesome!
Awesome list! Those are some great games. I wish you would have taken it back a bit further with the game systems because there are some classic games that live on in my mind.

In my opinion GTA is the best one , but I haven’t seen some great games in your list. You missed some survivor horror games like Resident evil first 3 episodes or for example silent hill series.
