10 Tips for Link Building

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Here are ten great Link Building Tips that will help with your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) campaign and hopefully get your site closer to the elusive top spot in the Google Rankings.

It is worth bearing in mind that having loads of links to your website or blog is pretty useless if the site itself doesn’t have decent and original content.

1) Do Follow Blog Comments – Leave comments on Do Follow blogs (like this one), this gets you a proper link very quickly indeed, if you can find blogs that relate to the phrases you are trying to promote all the better. Google Alerts

If you have a blog or a website with a news section it can be difficult to come up with fresh, interesting comment on a regular basis.

Using Google Alerts will bring a stream of potential fresh, new content straight to your inbox…

Firstly, I am not encouraging you to steal other peoples articles and stories, that would be wrong and also a breach of Copyright rules.

But if you are looking for stories on a certain subject or relating to a specific industry Google Alerts is very useful.

I am always on the lookout for news and stories to put on the news blog of the law firm I work for and there is no better way of finding the most relevant, up to date articles than through Google Alerts.

The real beauty is that the stories are sent ‘as it happens’, so I can have the latest personal injury news on the blog before it is in the newspapers.

It is really easy to set up your alert, it takes about 10 seconds, and you can have as many alerts as you like.

Amongst the ones I have are ‘Personal Injury Claim’ ‘Accident at Work’ and ‘Road Accident’.

Once you have confirmed the alert in the e-mail Google send you the alerts will start coming thick and fast and you will have more news and information on your chosen subject than you know what to do with.

When I find a story that I think would be of interest to site visitors I have two options, I can either re-write the story with my own thoughts on it, or I can copy it and make it clear who was the source of the story.

Whilst this is a great way to get the latest news and articles for a blog or website, nothing beats writing your own stories for everyone else to steal.
